How to use

  1. Choose or drop an image (JPG, PNG or WebP).
  2. Enter the size you need in KB — for example 50 for a form that allows up to 50 KB. Leave it empty to use the quality slider instead.
  3. Check the new size and the preview.
  4. Click Download to save the compressed image.

How it works

The tool tries different JPG/WebP quality levels to get just under your target size. If even the lowest quality is too big, it also reduces the width and height a little until the image fits.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The image is compressed inside your browser, so it never leaves your phone or computer.

How do I compress a photo to 50 KB for a government form?

Choose your photo, type 50 in "Target size in KB" and click Download. The result will be 50 KB or slightly less.

Why does the output come out as JPG?

JPG and WebP can be compressed much more than PNG. Transparent parts of a PNG become white in a JPG.
